Email at Dayo Inc. is performed by using software from SLMail Pro, a new version of Seattle Lab’s popular SLMail email server software. 

SLMail Pro is an Internet mail server providing SMTP support for sending and receiving mail. Simple Mail Transport Protocol (SMTP) is an Internet Protocol (IP) originally implemented on UNIX. SMTP is the means by which mail is exchanged on the Internet.

SLMail Pro is also a post office for Internet mail clients. Post Office Protocol 3 (POP3) is a later addition that allows mail servers to hold mail for clients, allowing Internet mail to become a client/server affair. Mail clients use SMTP to send outgoing mail to SLMail Pro. Mail clients use POP3 to ask SLMail Pro for incoming mail.

SLMail Pro integrates the features of other email server products developed by Waterford Technologies into one complete package to provide Spam filtering, virus filtering, web access to mailboxes, and email usage reporting.
